Park Royal may be looking to add storeys to its already approved towers at 752 Marine Dr.
The developer, Larco, has been 鈥渢esting the waters鈥 with conversations in the community to see if there is support for taller towers 鈥渋n exchange for some kind of community benefit,鈥 according to the District of West Vancouver.
But the district emphasized the plan is very much preliminary.
鈥淭he District has not received an application from Larco for anything related to this development. If an application were submitted in the future, staff would assess it in relation to current policy, which, in this case, is the Marine Drive corridor local area plan,鈥 said Donna Powers, district spokeswoman.
in May 2018 following a two-night public hearing. Park Royal has been given the OK to build 203 rental units, 11 of which would be reserved for affordable housing, in 11- and 14-storey towers, a daycare facility and 29,000 square feet of commercial space.
That iteration of the plan was made to comply with the district鈥檚 Marine Drive local area plan adopted by council a year earlier, which capped heights for the former White Spot site at 12 and 14 storeys.
Park Royal vice-president Rick Amantea said it couldn鈥檛 comment on the specifics of the proposal and that it would come before council 鈥渙nly if the idea resonates in the community and has merit.鈥
