Vancouver’s Four Seasons hotel on West Georgia and Howe Streets will close in early 2020 after more than 40 years of operation, the company announced this week.
The hotel chain’s current lease to operate at 791 West Georgia Street expires January 31, 2020. The Four Seasons in a statement that the lease will not be renewed beyond that date.
Cadillac Fairview, the landlord, confirmed to the Courier that the hotel chain was given the option to renew the lease on the property, but declined.
Cadillac Fairview also operates the Pacific Centre mall that adjoins the Four Seasons hotel.
Tom Knoepfel, Cadillac Fairview’s director for Western Canada, told BIV his company has made “no decisions whatsoever†about what will happen to the site.
It is also not yet known whether Four Seasons Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»will take up residence at an alternative site, or cease to operate in the city.
Cadillac Fairview last year sued the Four Seasons for failing to keep the hotel up to what it deemed to be luxury-hotel standards, and BIV was the .
