Where was the offense in Pride satire?

Re: Letters of the week, Aug. 10.

I was more than surprised at the comments about Mark Hasiuk's column about the Pride Parade. Both Rory Richards and Mayor Robertson were outraged at the homophobic comments he apparently made. I say apparently because I read the article and found nothing offensive at all. What were they offended by?

All I read was a humorous take on the continued over estimated crowd numbers by the Pride organizers as well as the local media. It's easy to accuse someone of being offensive or bigoted, but at least have something to base your accusations on. What exactly was written that was offensive or hateful? Because I read the article over and over and still could not find any-thing remotely offensive.

As for being pathetic, I think our esteemed Mayor is the pathetic one for trying to score political points with the gay community with his attack on Hasiuk's column. Oh, and one more thing it seems that the parade has lost some fans this year as the estimates seem to have lost a few hundred thousand people over last year.
