Weight loss on track

I’ve made it to my 7 a.m. boot camp class at Eastside Fitness studio on Fraser Street every Friday since I started three weeks ago, despite having company in from out-of-town last Thursday night and enjoying a couple of (large) glasses of red wine.

I’ve made it to my 7 a.m. boot camp class at studio on Fraser Street every Friday since I started three weeks ago, despite having company in from out-of-town last Thursday night and enjoying a couple of (large) glasses of red wine.

I have to admit when my alarm went off the next morning at 6:10 a.m. and everyone else at our place was still sleeping, I wasn’t thrilled to crawl out of bed to do squats with a medicine ball. But I made it.

For the past four weeks, I’ve been working with registered holistic nutritionist who’s teamed up with Darnelle Moore, co-owner Eastside Fitness to help me on my road to better health and fitness.

I had been feeling a bit discouraged because I wasn’t losing the amount of weight I thought I should be each week. But last week things seemed to click and I lost 4.5 pounds, bringing my total weight loss to almost 10 pounds. My goal for my 10-week program is to lose 20 pounds, so (fingers crossed) it looks like I’m right on track.

With Susan’s help I’m following the Wow! Weight Loss Inc. Program, which is much more about learning how to eat healthy for life than it is about dieting.

Susan is also encouraging me to be more active and initially asked me to start walking for 30 minutes three times a week. Since then I’ve added boot camp at Eastside Fitness once a week. Susan has since asked me to incorporate the giant hill by our house into my walk at least once a week, as well as push ups three times a week. Susan and Darnelle are sneaky like that. One minute you’re sitting on the couch watching the Food Network, the next you’re doing step-ups and hiking up a hill in the rain.

As per Susan’s advice I’ve also been incorporating a lot more fruits and vegetables to my diet. So you can imagine my delight Tuesday when as I was eating my salad for lunch, I received an email regarding an upcoming Poutine Festive that starts this week. Thanks for that
