To the editor:
I continue to be frustrated with the ongoing toxic relationship between the school board, the union, the teachers and the government. Despite my writing, talking and interacting with a large number of parties over the years, not much changes.
The general feedback from the government is that the system is well funded, but poorly managed by the board and union. The union says there is not enough money coming into the system from the government. The school trustees only point out that our future is at stake and the government is ripping us off. The government cannot continue to shrug its shoulders and say the money isn't being managed.
The new trustees need to do better with what they have. What's coming across to me is the notion that unless all of a number of conditions are met, nothing can be done, which smells a lot like the B.C. politics of old. Meanwhile kids and parents suffer. No report cards? What happened as a result of Cheryl Wenezenki-Yolland's audit of the system?
