Re: , Rants Feb. 2. I completely agree with him. There isnt a street corner where Im not passing someone smoking. A lot of smokers dont even have the ability to go to gum or patches. I even see people leave home without a cigarette in their hand. Its almost like a security blanket. Also, I live on assistance and I dont mind giving it to someone on a street corner, but not to someone whos smoking. Smokers, you really need to consider the rights of other people. You make a choice to do what you want to do to your body but city officials need to enforce anti-smoking bylaws. I have a challenge for Occupiers: you could throw a real swerve ball to the tobacco industry, one of the biggest corporations of death, by stopping to smoke.

Re: . As a reformed smoker I love what Paul Richards had to say. I know its hard to quit, but if I can do it, so can you. I feel sympathy but walking through those pockets of smoke makes me want to puke.

All you people complaining about cigarette smokers everyone forgets all the noxious chemicals that are being emmitted by automobiles into the environment! Not too mention the annoying and deafening sound of beeping and car sirens going off while some of us trying to get a bit of peace and quiet in our beautiful city!

RE: Barking mad, Jan. 26. Right on. My elderly friend used to go and sit in the Denman Mall as an outing but the yapping dogs have driven her away. If someone is bitten on the premises, the owners could be sued.

Has anyone noticed how high the recycling fee is on items such as TVs? If the government chooses to levy such a large amount on these items, why does it not pass some on to businesses that sell them, so that some of us who dont have cars can get their old TVs, etc, taken away without having to pay extra to recycling companies to do this?

Re: , Feb. 2 Rave. Are you for real? I love your Rufous hummingbird but global warming is a misnomer. Extreme weather is what its about. Its not something to celebrate. Its an ecological disaster. It will wipe out your Rufous hummingbird and polar bears. Enjoy your naivety.

Re: . Ive been feeding a pair of birds for over a year on my 18th floor balcony on Sunset Beach. Invest in a hummingbird feeder and you get a lot of visits from these creatures.

I like to go to an independent, single-screen theatre for the late show because there arent too many people and the noise is kept to a minimum. Several times, we sit in a nice comfortable seat. There is hardly anyone else in the place, with lots of room, but someone will sit right behind us, rattling paper, kicking seats, talking. Why is this? Weve had to move a couple of times. Its beyond understanding.

The Missing Women Inquiry is proving that the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police and RCMP have their heads up their ass. Im seeing posters of mostly missing men. Can we assume well soon see a Missing Men Inquiry so I can say I told you so? Why is no one listening? There is another serial killer on the loose.

I would like Prime Minister Stephen Harper or any Conservative MP to explain what they think will happen to disabled, low-income seniors if theyre blocked from getting Old Age Security and therefore unable to access any Guaranteed Income Security benefits. Disabled seniors are often unable to work and will have low pension benefits. The last Canadian politician to mount such an unprincipled sneak attack on innocent people was Gordon Campbell, who left office with a nine per cent approval rating. Canadians will not tolerate the politics of sneak attacks, as Gordon Campbell found out. If you want Granny living in your basement, just keep this up.

To stumble on a climate change denier in this day and age is like stumbling on a woolly mammoth. Can anyone still deny theres something happening to our planet? The prime symptom is increased intensity and number of cyclonic events, which drive dust up into the air. If youre still a denier at the end of the year go to your doctor and tell them youre delusional. Its kinda like the God debate. God doesnt care if you believe in him or not. Nature doesnt care if you believe in global warming or not. It will still take place.
