RANTS AND RAVES: The dog vs cat debate rages on

Re: Yo, J. Hoover, Rants Nov. 17. Youre out walking your cat at midnight! That is what I am saying! We dog lovers dont have to be out walking our dogs at midnight. You are doing that so you can avoid dogs being out, not so it gives you exercise.

You are doing that so you can avoid dogs being out, not so it gives you exercise. How inconvenient is that? Oh, and one more thing cats werent meant to be walked on a leash. Thats what Im saying: dogs rule.

Re: spending money to put up a new sign with largely unenforceable rules and regulations at the tiny polluted off-leash beach area for dogs west of Burrard Bridge.Does no one at the Park Board know that is what dogs do? And where better than a beach to do it. Whats next new signs at ALL city beaches prohibiting children with their little shovels from digging in the sand? After all, fair is fair. Vision wants to be green but where can the thousands of dogs living in the West End go to exercise besides small, dirty, over-crowded spaces?

I voted early on election day and wish I hadnt. By 7pm Gregors team had phoned me five times and actually rung my intercom once! This is nothing short of harassment. Next time around I will hold off on voting to see who is the least desperate and the most respectful of the electorate.

Down at Occupy Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»we have created a model that does a pretty damn good job of making sure everyones voice is heard when we make decisions through consensus. When there is disagreement, we work together to find a solution that works for everyone. We are committed to recognizing the ways we are oppressed, and the ways we oppress others. We are laying the foundation for respectful and meaningful community involvement for all human beings and this is where real change grows from. Occupy Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is working on many issues from financial greed, to homelessness, to environmental protection. We also provide people with free hot meals multiple times a day, free medical care, free clothing, free education via the library, free entertainment, and free legal advice. We need to make visible all the issues and inspirations related to this movement, so we can all rally together. I believe that is the next step toward bringing in those 99-per-centers that have felt neglected or confused thus far.
