I can definitely see certain comparisons between the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»city government and the dictators in Cuba and China.
I always thought the city expanded parking metering and increased parking costs as part of some plan to attempt to pay for the 2010 Winter Olympics (the loans for which I am certain will burden the city for many years to come).
But Courier columnist Mark Hasiuk put it in an entirely different perspective-the city leaders don't really care how much they overburden those who can't bicycle and they are dictatorial in their methods to carry out their agenda.
It's insulting and abusive to the general public when government leaders can avoid parking fees by issuing themselves parking exemption decals while the rest of us have to fork over cash.
