Letters of the week

The title of the article is a bit of a misnomer. The board chair appears to have taken unilateral action. One of the fe-male staff alerted me to the issue while I was at her school. She was very concerned about her safety as she often leaves late and the route to parking is past a "dark" spot. I raised the issue at a Planning committee as new business later that day. The committee chair allowed the item but indicated the issue was to be considered in private. Being a trustee and not having heard about the Mosquitoes being turned off, I argued it was a public safety issue and right for those impacted to have the opportunity to discuss it.

I am not convinced the devices should be unplugged. Nor do I agree with David Eby that they never should have been installed. From anecdotal evidence and it is consistent across the district, the Mosquitoes work.

Ken Denike, VSB school trustee
