To the editor:
Having a close knowledge of the Downtown Eastside mentality, I believe the absolute worst solution would be to place crossing guards. Placing citizens (unless the plan is to use armed police officers) at high risk in interacting with Downtown Eastsiders would be a foolish and dangerous proposition. Leading to possible altercations, or worse, stabbing or fatality.
