To the editor:
Re: "Feeling flushed," Aug. 26. COPE Coun. Ellen Woodsworth feels strongly that toilets should be readily available to TransLink's customers.
I suggest that Coun. Woodsworth, rather than raising the possibility that TransLink's reluctance to pay for toilets may "be an election issue," present a motion at city council's next session requiring the city to build and maintain public toilet facilities at key transit hubs.
And I do not understand why TransLink does not offer free ground rent for, say, 20 years at such locations as the Bridgeport and Phibbs exchange for free standing coffee shops-coffee shops open 16 hours a day and providing maintained toilets.
For me, the availability of a coffee out of the rain after just missing a bus is often a more important amenity than a toilet.
