Re: "12th & Cambie (Bash and Blame)," Nov. 23.

The comments on COPE's results in the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»civic election by Tim Louis lead me to wonder if he lives up to the ethics and principles he expects others to live by. It is well known that Mr. Louis worked to undo the alliance between COPE and Vision. When the COPE membership endorsed the alliance, he had a choice to run for the party's nomination or move to a political party that he could fully support. He chose to stay with COPE. He should not then be surprised to be held to an agreement that he entered into willingly. Organizations and individuals who supported COPE clearly were right to expect Mr. Louis to live up to his end of the bargain if he wanted their endorsement. If he wanted to support another political party during the election, he should have sought a nomination there. Why didn't he do this? Did Mr. Louis "annihilate his ethics and principles" and decide that he "would aim instead for power."
