Three cheers for Courier letter writers Robert Wilson and Ned Jacobs-at last they tell it how it is. That we are not all over the moon about all the wonderful laneway houses. I personally don't know anyone who thinks they are a good idea-except people who are out to make money. There is a house being built on Blenheim Street-the lot is 110 deep. Would you believe they are putting a laneway house on the same lot. As for the Heritage Foundation, I'm appalled. I thought they were organized to protect our beautiful old houses and buildings? How could they compare carriage houses to laneway houses? Carriage houses were usually on big lots and people had horses, with a barn for the carriage with some room for the chauffeur. Probably 60 per cent of us have had parents or grandparents who came from Europe and Britain and lately Asia to get freedom and land and to escape all the overcrowding. Now we are stepping back in time.
