Homeless shelter beds' cost shocks

To the editor: Re: "Mayor hopes for temporary homeless shelters," Oct. 13. One hundred and 60 beds, for four of five months, at a cost of $2.5 million-that's more than $3,000 per month per bed. It might have been cheaper to give them free apartments.
