Re: "City's playoff plan better be moronproof," March 28.
Unfortunately the line has already been drawn by VPD Chief Jim Chu. His "don't come downtown" edict will become the rallying cry of the "morons." They will come by the tens of thousands. "Close SkyTrain stations" is another winner. Six in a cab at $5 to $6 per person is the same as a SkyTrain ticket and you can lug all the booze you want.
The city has had enough rioting to have learned karma doesn't cut it. All businesses should have riot-proof cladding for their store fronts. The city should invest in a couple of water cannons and have adequate police and military resources ready for deployment on 15 minutes notice. Groups of more than six person should not allowed on the street during or after all playoff games. Harsh to be sure.
