Re: "Proposed seniors' facility worries homeowners," April 6.
They should be. Don't blame the Southlands homeowners and cyclists protesting.
For many years I have driven along this route. At one time it was truly picturesque, seeing the "Casa Mia" estate, along with the other unique abodes.
Such fabulous memories I hold of spring blossoms, the sounds of summer parties, autumn's show of colors, and the incredible Christmas lights.
Long gone are the original owners, the future ahead holds the challenges of high taxes and zoning laws. I imagine environmentally the current traffic on Southwest Marine Drive is already a heavy burden to bear, never mind the addition of a proposed rezoning of this large "purchased as residential property" to commercial.
No longer do I dare cross forth into this congested street or think for a second this route for a weekend drive. I prefer to remember like others, the famous past history not a future senior's reality.
