Cartoon's Jesus quote really Paul's

To the editor: Re: Geoff Olson's cartoon, Nov. 9. The cartoon drawn by Mr. Olson shows a Jesus-like person sitting in front of the Occupy Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­tents with slogans, facts and quotes connected to this person. I am confused.

The cartoon drawn by Mr. Olson shows a Jesus-like person sitting in front of the Occupy Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­tents with slogans, facts and quotes connected to this person. I am confused. It's true, Jesus did hang out with sinners and did turn over the tables of the money changers in the temple, but he did not say that "the love of money is the root of all evil." That quote is by the apostle Paul in his letter 1 Timothy 6: 10: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil."

As to Mr. Olson's concluding question, "Where would this long-haired hippie pitch a tent?" Jesus says in Revelation 3: 20, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in." I believe Jesus wants to pitch his tent in people's lives.
