Female firefighters from Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»hosted a fire fighting mentorship camp for teenaged girls, Aug. 5, 6 and 7. The boot camp took place in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and included participants aged 16 to 18 from across the Lower Mainland.
It was designed to introduce young women to the male-dominated profession. Participants learned skills ranging from fire fighting and search and rescue techniques to fire extinguisher use.
Equipment and funding was provided by several municipalities.
