Vancouver’s Langara College, BCIT campuses closing due to snow

As the snow continues to fall across Metro Vancouver, some post-secondary schools are closing for the rest of the afternoon. Langara College’s campus on West 49 th Avenue closed as of 2:30 p.m.

As the snow continues to fall across Metro Vancouver, some post-secondary schools are closing for the rest of the afternoon.

Langara College’s campus on West 49th Avenue closed as of 2:30 p.m. All afternoon and evening classes are cancelled and the library, student union and cafeteria are all closed. An update about Wednesday’s classes will be posted by 6 a.m.

Earlier this afternoon, BCIT announced that all its campuses would be closed for the afternoon, and all classes and exams cancelled.

The school tweeted that an update regarding Wednesday’s classes would be posted by 5:30 a.m.

Simon Fraser University cancelled classes for the day at its Burnaby, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­and Surrey campuses. The school said an announcement about Wednesday’s classes would be made tomorrow by 6:30 a.m.

All Kwantlen Polytechnic University campuses are also closed for the day.

"Facilities Services employees and Security personnel will remain on-site to assist as students and employees begin vacating the campuses," the school . " We hope to be able to close all buildings by 3 p.m.  At this time, the inter-campus shuttle will continue to operate."

University of B.C. students won’t be getting a break due to the snow. The school that evening classes (those starting at or after 5 p.m.) and all operations at UBC Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­are proceeding as normal.

Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­is under a with accumulations of between five and 20 centimetres of heavy, wet snow expected Wednesday afternoon and evening.
