An independent university in downtown 鶹ýӳhas closed its campus after identifying one of its students with a presumptive case of COVID-19.

According to a press release from University Canada West (UCW), one of its students is now in isolation, after their father, who was visiting from overseas, had been positively tested for COVID-19. The students’ roommate is also in isolation.

The university said it is taking “proactive and precautionary steps” by suspending all classes and closingthe campus and premises onThursday, March 5, Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 until a full disinfection has taken place, including a deep-clean of all public and back-office areas.

“Students and staff who may have been in close contact with the affected students have been identified and contacted with information and advice,” said the press release.

The school will be holding at press conference at 626 West Pender at 2 p.m.
