Starting Monday, SeaBus sailings during peak periods are set to temporarily occur less frequently as TransLink performs maintenance work on one of its vessels.

The change comes into effect starting Feb. 3, when SeaBus sailings will occur every 15 minutes during peak periods as opposed to the current weekday peak sailings schedule of departures occurring every 10 minutes, a news release from TransLink notes.

The schedule change is to allow the transit authority to perform propulsion system repairs on the Burrard Otter II while the vessel is out of service.

The work takes several days and requires the vessel to be dry-docked, according to TransLink.

The vessel is expected to return to regular service prior to Monday, Feb. 10, at which point 10-minute peak period service is set to return, the release notes.

SeaBus sailings outside of peak travel times are not expected to be affected.

Peak morning departure times from both Lonsdale and Waterfront stations typically last from 7 a.m. up to 9:45 a.m., while peak afternoon departure times for both stations typically go from 3 p.m. up to 6:45 p.m.
