Save-On-Foods is taking additional steps to try and help contain the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier this week the grocery store chain announced that it is and reserving the first hour of shopping (7-8 a.m.) for seniors, persons with disabilities and those most vulnerable who need to shop in a less hectic environment and allow for social distancing.
And starting Friday, March 20, stores are temporarily suspending bottle returns and the use of reusable shopping bags. Plastic bags, which usually cost five cents, will be free of charge until further notice.
鈥淏oth our team members and customers have expressed concern about bottle returns and in using reusable bags at this time and we want to do everything we can to put them at ease,鈥� said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones.
鈥淭he health and safety of our team members and customers is our number one priority and we鈥檒l continue to do what鈥檚 best for them as this unprecedented situation evolves.鈥�
Save-On-Foods has 178 stores in Western Canada.
