Well, its the weekend on the Drive and the yuppies are out. Quoting the Dalai Lama and acting like selfish jerks is kind of contradictory, dont you think? I guess youre too young to remember weekend hippies.

Pedal penance
So, here I was walking on the sidewalk of Homer Street on a bright Saturday morning and along you came right towards me on your bicycle. As politely as possible I said to you This is not a bike path, and you yelled at me Shut-up, so I replied No need to be rude and then you let forth a volley of foul-mouthed vituperation that would make a sailer blush! Maintaining my calm and good will towards you (which by then you had no right to) I said your English appears to be very limited. You continued to swear at me. I pointed to the bike lane on the road, which incidentally does not exist for decoration, then suggested to you that you learn anger management before I went on my way. Now, as well as making a complete ass of yourself and behaving abusively you also disturbed and upset the many innocent bystanders who were present so, here is your penance: 1. from now on, keep your bicycle off the sidewalk. 2. If failing to comply to #1 when someone tells you that you should not ride on the sidewalk, politely say Thank you, hold your tongue, swallow your bile and immediately get your bike and your sorry ass onto the bike lane where you belong. 3. Donate $20 to the food bank. 4. Get professional help for your rage issues. 5. Respect your elders.

Booze security
I was recently in the lineup at the Cardero and Davie liquor store on a Saturday. There were huge lines and all cashiers were working full tilt. A young girl came in and loaded up her empty bag as the security guard stood in the aisle text messaging. She then waltzed out and no one stopped her. The clerk told us that he was not allowed to apprehend any shoplifters because of their union contract. WTF is that all about? Why waste our government dollars on a useless security guard. Get security tags that wont allow you to leave the store without setting off a very loud alarm. No wonder our booze is so damn expensive and no wonder we make the trip across the line even though gas is expensive. Signed a very pissed off taxpayer.
