A man was arrested early Thursday morning after听allegedly stealing a bus in Surrey听and taking it for a drive.听
Sgt. Clint Hampton, media spokesperson with Metro 麻豆传媒映画Transit Police, told 麻豆传媒映画 in an email that the听bus operator for the N19 night bus was on a break when the incident took place.听
"This occurred early this morning around 2 a.m.," writes Hampton.
"A bus operator for the N19听night bus听was taking a washroom break. The bus was left running and a man boarded and stole the bus."
Hampton notes that there were no other passengers on the bus, and听that听GPS was used to find听its location. Once it was found, he reports that the bus was stopped听at Fraser Highway and 176th Street.听
"With the assistance of the Surrey RCMP, the suspect was arrested. The suspect, a 28-year-old man, was held in custody."
Hampton adds that transit police听will be forwarding a charge of theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.
