The last day to cast a ballot at an advance poll is tomorrow and over the first six days of advance voting more than 29,000 votes have been cast.
That’s higher than during the same time in the last election. In the first six days of advance voting in 2014 there were 23,811 votes cast.
Voters can cast a ballot at a dozen advance poll locations throughout the city:
- Britannia Community Services Centre – 1661 Napier St.
- Hastings Community Centre – 3096 East Hastings St.
- Kerrisdale Community Centre – 5851 West Boulevard
- Killarney Community Centre – 6260 Killarney St.
- Kitsilano War Memorial Community Centre – 2690 Larch St.
- Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre – 990 West 59th Ave.
- Renfrew Community Arts and Recreation Centre – 181 Roundhouse Mews
- Sunset Community Centre – 6810 Main St.
- Trout Lake Community Centre – 3360 Victoria Dr.
- West End Community Centre – 870 Denman St.
- Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»City Hall – 453 West 12th Ave.
Advance polls are open until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Election day is Saturday, Oct. 20 when more than 100 polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Most voting places are wheelchair accessible and accessibility details for every location are listed on the city’s website at . And services are available for people who need help marking the ballot, or have difficulty speaking, reading or understanding English.
During advance voting only, an accessible ballot marking machine will be available at Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre and Killarney Community Centre. It features sip-and-puff, paddle or other accessibility devices; audio instructions and braille markings on paddles and buttons; large print or high colour contrast; and, audio and written ballot marking instructions in Cantonese, Mandarin and Punjabi.
Residents who received voter information cards are encouraged to bring them to speed up the voting process.
With 158 candidates listed in random order, the City is recommending that voters plan their vote in advance to save time in the voting booth. Voters can use the Plan Your Vote tool online at , or fill in the worksheet in the printed voters’ guide, which is available at all community centres and libraries.
