Christian Gravel raced to a sixth place finish Saturday in the mens 1,500m at the Youth Commonwealth Games on the Isle of Man.
The 17-year-old St. Georges student finished in three minutes, 58.81 seconds. He broke the four-minute mark and bettered his time of 4:01.50 that put him through to the finals.
Gravel trains with the Thunderbirds Track Club and placed second at last years B.C. high school track championships, helping St. Georges repeat as provincial champions.
The fourth annual Youth Commonwealth Games were held Sept. 7 to 13 on the Isle of Man. Athletes aged 14 to 18 from 69 countries competed in athletics, badminton, swimming, boxing, cycling, mens gymnastics and rugby 7s.
