An online fundraiser has been launched for a movie production assistant who suffered a serious injuries while at work on a set in Vancouver.

On March 11, the bucket of a lift lowered onto Amanda Smith's head while she was doing her job as a production assistant on the set of Batwoman. She is currently paralyzed and cannot feel anything from the waist down.

Following the accident, Smith underwent emergency spinal surgery. However, the notes that, "with this type of surgery, there is no way to know if it was successful until she undergoes significant therapy."

Smith suffered a burst T-12, and a T-11 ASIA A. She underwent a T-11-T-12 Laminectomy, and is fused from T-10-L2. However, friends hope that with time and rehabilitation, she might regain sensations in her legs.

Since Smith won't be able to work for the foreseeable future, friends say that she needs help to make ends meet.

"She's been a great contributing member of the community, a great co-worker, and wouldn’t hesitate to help any of you in need," reads the campaign. "Please show her some love and support, and help alleviate her financial burden."

In just four days, the campaign has raised almost $74,000.
