Crews from West Coast Marine Response were still on site at Port Mellon in Howe Sound Thursday morning after a barge sank on Jan. 31.
A statement from the Canadian Coast Guard said two of its vessels responded along with three from Marine Response, a private company tasked with responding to spills in navigable waters along the B.C. coast.
The Squamish Nation has also been involved in the effort.
The Coast Guard also said a boom was deployed around the sunken barge to contain spilled diesel, but there is “no indication of further upwelling of pollution at this point.â€Â
The next steps are decontamination and a Transport Canada over-flight of the area to look for signs of any slicks.
