B.C. Ferries cancels all major sailings for rest of today due to 'hurricane-force winds'

B.C. Ferries has issued , indicating it has cancelled all sailings for the rest of the day on several routes due to forecast “hurricane-force winds.â€

Service will be suspended starting at 3 p.m. on the following routes:Ìý

  • Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen
  • Duke Point-Tsawwassen
  • Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay
  • Horseshoe Bay-Langdale
  • Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands
  • Horseshoe Bay-Bowen Island
  • Langdale-Gambier and Keats

Environment Canada has issued for the Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­region Wednesday.Ìý

"A deep low pressure system will cross Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Island Wednesday night. Ahead of the low, southeast winds of 70 to 90 km/h will develop in Greater Victoria early in the evening and spread to the Southern Gulf Islands, East Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­Island — Duncan to Nanaimo, southern and western sections of Metro Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­and the Sunshine Coast later in the evening," explained the weather agency in a statement.Ìý

"Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring," its added.

B.C. Ferries urges anyone traveling with them Wednesday toÌýcheck theÌýÌý¾±³¾³¾±ð»å¾±²¹³Ù±ð±ô²â.Ìý

Those customers who have reservations on cancelled sailings will be advised that their booking is cancelled, and reservations that are cancelled will have their reservation fees fully refunded.Ìý
