Getting a three-day warning apparently wasn鈥檛 enough of a deterrent for one driver on the long weekend.
鈥淏ecause the driver had a sober passenger with him, and it was his first time getting an immediate roadside prohibition, Delta police used discretion and didn鈥檛 impound his vehicle,鈥� said DPD in a post on its Facebook page Tuesday morning. 鈥淗owever, his driver鈥檚 license was seized, and he was prohibited from driving for three days.
鈥淏ut鈥�. less than two hours later, around 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, police spotted the same vehicle and driver. Once again, the driver was required to blow, and once again received a 鈥榳arn reading.鈥� This time he was prohibited for driving for seven days, as it was his second offence. He was also arrested for prohibited driving, and will appear in court to answer this charge. And yes, police impounded the vehicle this time.鈥�
According to DPD, overall there were 10 other times on the long weekend that people made the poor choice to drive impaired, and were stopped by police.
鈥淭hey were stopped just after 1 a.m., and mid-day at 2 p.m.,鈥� said DPD. 鈥淥ne didn鈥檛 use their turn signal, one was driving significantly below the highway speed limit, while another ran a red light. About half of the drivers stopped actually live here in Delta. Not sure if that qualifies as a silver lining though.鈥�
