Heading down south for Canada Day? You might want to check ahead to see what the border wait is.
“Summer holidays are a busy time at the border,” said Kenneth L. Williams, area port director for Blaine in a press release. “Prior planning and knowledge can help facilitate your entry into the United States.”
Looking to beat the border rush? Try traveling early – before 8 a.m. – or late – after 5 p.m. You can also try crossing at a less popular port of entry, such as the one at Abbotsford (Sumas) or Aldergrove (Lynden).
Be sure to have your travel documents ready and make sure you know what’s in your vehicle before you cross. Don’t forget to declare all items – including firearms – and know what food and beverages you can bring over with you.
