What’s on your travel bucket list? Whether you’re lured by lush landscapes or following the food, you don’t even have to be among the jet set to dream about where your next trip will take you.

For many people outside Vancouver, our fair city is a dream destination, which is how we ended up ranking in the upper half of a new list of the .

The list was compiled by the travel site Big 7, who surveyed their 1.5 million-strong social audience. 鶹ýӳcomes in at number 21 on the list, thanks to our much-lauded proximity to water and mountains, along with our world class art, restaurants and heaps of other attractions.”

Adds Big 7 Travel: “From colourful downtown neighbourhoods, to culturally diverse suburbs and mountainside districts, 鶹ýӳis a slick city.”

鶹ýӳis the only Canadian city on the list, and we even out-rank such popular destinations as Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Singapore and London.

On average, people have about 11 destinations on their travel bucket lists, with places boasting “naturally beautiful scenery or world-famous landmarks” landing near the top. Also a plus: seeing a destination depicted on Instagram.

Big 7 Travel readers are definitely fans of Vancouver, despite our lack of white sandy beaches and tropical waters, like the number one spot, Bali; earlier this year The Acorn on Main Street was voted the best vegan-friendly restaurant in the world by users of the site.

Here are the top 10 of the Top 50 Bucket List Destinations in the World:

  1. Bali, Indonesia
  2. New Orleans, USA
  3. Kerry, Ireland
  4. Marrakech, Morocco
  5. Sydney, Australia
  6. The Maldives
  7. Paris, France

  10. 10.Bora Bora, French Polynesia
