Vancouver-filmed Ghost Wars is now on Netflix

The SyFy show that wants to make America scared again is now on Netflix.

Ghost Wars, which was partly filmed in the in downtown Vancouver, is now available to Canadian subscribers.

While the 鶹ýӳlocation was used for the interior shots, Fort Langley and Squamish do double duty as the show’s remote fictional town in Alaska.

For fear of any spoilers, let’s just sum up the show’s plot this way: In Port Moore, Alaska, unknown forces have blocked the portal to the afterlife following an earthquake. The ghosts of people who die, including the earthquake victims, have nowhere to go. And they’re pissed about it.

The first 13-episode season stars Avan Jogia as local outcast Roman Mercer who “must harness his repressed psychic powers” to save the town, Vincent D’Onofrio as the local minister who discovers that ghosts are good for business, Kim Coates as a fisherman-turned-contrabrand smuggler, Kristin Lehman as the town doctor who initially refuses to believe in ghosts, and Meat Loaf as a local businessman haunted by his past.

The show was created by Vancouver-based Simon Barry(Van Helsing, Continuum) and the executive producer was Dennis Heaton (Motive). A second season has not yet been announced.
