I think that one of the reasons my husband enjoys taking me out to dinner is that he hopes Ill come home inspired to try something new in the kitchen. This approach often works, although it is all too easy for me to fall back on the excuse that I dont have as much time to devote to cooking as the chefs who are paid to do it all day.

Thats why the arrival of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Cooks 2 is a mixed blessing. It negates any excuse to stick to tried-and-true recipes while providing page upon page of ideas for new things to try.

More than 70 chefs from around British Columbia share 100 new recipes, all of them chosen with the home cook in mind. The book is divided into four sections: local food, international flavours, emerging talents and pioneering chefs.

Proceeds of the book go to the Chefs Table Scholarship and Bursary Fund in support of the next generation of culinary geniuses.

But does this mean you dont need to go out for dinner at any of the restaurants highlighted in the book? Of course not. Just say that you want to find out how a real chef does it before you try it at home.
