Cherry blossom madness takes over Metro 鶹ýӳevery spring (how can we forget?) and one spot where people can get their fill this year is in an unlikely place: a mall.
Blossom at Metropolis is a nearly month-long art installation that will find more than 250,000 cherry blossoms installed at Metrotown’s Grand Court. This epic interactive feature was created by Vancouver’s Hfour, and guests are definitely encouraged to engage (or get engaged — how swoon-worthy are those cherry blossoms, mmm?).
A “selfie-zone” will be set up for those IG moments, and the whole installation is meant to be photographed and shared in your stories and timelines. Mirror spheres will create the illusion of infinite blooms everywhere you look.
In addition to the quarter-million pink-and-white blooms, Blossom at Metropolis will also offerfloral art and Japanese cultural workshops every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday — think stuff like origami, brush lettering, paper and fabric art, flower arranging, traditional Japanese folk dancing and more. A full schedule of all the events is posted .
When: March 5 to 31, during regular mall hours
Where: Metropolis at Metrotown (Grand Court) — 4700 Kingsway, Burnaby
