Are you ready for Pride at Parq — or as infamous TV personality and drag queen would call it, the “Extravaganza Eleganza?”
Then “fierce” is the look you’ll be aiming for if you plan to attend the Pride kick-off parties at Parq 鶹ýӳresort and casino Aug. 3 and 4, because hosting the fabulous events are stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race TV series, and .
Pride at Parq revs up with the Play with Pride Kick-off party Aug. 3 at, located on the sixth floor of Parq 鶹ýӳand home to one of the city's hottest rooftop patios. Saucy drag performer Kim Chi will emcee the festivities and mingle with guests while DJ Dickey Doo spins beats into the early morning. Vancouver-born DJ Dickey Doo is an internationally acclaimed house and disco DJ based in Berlin, Germany. Vancouver-based performers the will also be on hand to inspire a weekend filled with Pride.
And even D/6 lounge itself is getting a makeover for Pride when renowned artist Tom Pollock transforms the bar into a rainbow wonderland with colourful and prismatic art installations.Throughout the weekend, guests to Parq are encouraged to explore the resort's Pride-themed artwork, created by Pollock who's known for combining moving artwork with technology.
Besides D/6, Pollock will transform the lobby of the hotel within Parq Vancouver, into a Pride extravaganza with freestanding and suspended dichroic (two coloured) sculptures that change hues whenever movement is detected nearby. Pollock has also worked his magic on the check-in desk at the hotel, already home to a 25-foot, glass encased Douglas fir tree trunk, which will be illuminated in rainbow colours throughout Pride weekend. Pollock himself will reveal his anchor installation — a social media photo display with dichroic rainbow sculptures at the main entrance to Parq Vancouver.
On Aug. 4, Pride-goersareinvitedto return to D/6 for Cocktails,Canapes andQueens, a leisurely afternoon affair featuring athree-hour DJ set by dazzling drag queen and record producer Pearl and another energizing performance by the Brat Pack. Tickets to the event, which runs from 2 to 7 p.m., include a welcome cocktail, canapés and dessert bar.
No celebration is complete without cake and cocktails — and visitors to the resort will have plenty of opportunities to indulge in both. Between MondayJuly 30 and Monday August 6, slices of decadent layered rainbow cake will be available for purchase at, D/6,and. Those seeking a drink with a kick won't want to miss the resort's signature Pride cocktail, a bold blend of fruit caviar, fresh lemon juice, Stolichnaya vodka, St. Germain liqueur and champagne.
