When you decide to discover a better life at Predator Ridge, your purchase comes with peace of mind knowing you鈥檙e buying into an established, amenity-rich community built by some of the most trusted names in development and exempt from B.C.鈥檚 new speculation tax.

Established over 25 years ago on a plateau between two gorgeous lakes in Vernon and only a 20-minute drive from Kelowna International Airport, Predator Ridge has grown to offer a way of living unmatched in Canada.听

It鈥檚 become a vibrant, year-round community of 700 homes defined by some of the most beautiful geography in the world, brought to life by invigorating activities and the great people who live there.

Notable from an investment perspective is Predator Ridge鈥檚 location within the Okanagan Valley 鈥 well-known for its wine, climate and natural beauty 鈥 but outside the zone covered by B.C.鈥檚 new speculation tax.

Implemented earlier this year, the tax is equal to 0.5 per cent of property value, rising to as much as two per cent next year for out-of-province buyers.

The speculation tax was created by the provincial government to loosen up some of B.C.鈥檚 tightest housing markets, including Kelowna, but can be avoided by making the short drive north to Predator Ridge.

鈥淪ome buyers, especially those from outside the province, have been led to believe the speculation tax applies to all of B.C., but that鈥檚 absolutely not the case,鈥 says Jay Barre, director of marketing for Predator Ridge.

鈥淵ou can still buy at Predator Ridge knowing you won鈥檛 be subject to the annual penalty you would pay if you chose to invest in the Kelowna, Nanaimo or 麻豆传媒映画housing markets.鈥

But choosing to stay outside those markets doesn鈥檛 mean you have to choose not to see your investment grow.

Home values in the Greater Vernon area appreciated an average of 11 per cent last year, according to the BC Assessment Authority.

Meanwhile, the average single-family home in the North Okanagan sold in June 2018 for $529,000 after just 44 days on the market, compared to $496,000 after 55 days in the same year-ago period, according to statistics from the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board.

Investing at Predator Ridge also means you are backed by Vancouver-based Wesbild Holdings Ltd., a private real estate development company that has been building award-winning master planned communities for over 35 years, including The Foothills at Burke Mountain in Coquitlam. Its commercial properties include the 205,000 University Heights shopping centre in Victoria and the 187,000-square-foot Pacific Place Mall in Calgary.

To ensure quality at Predator Ridge, Wesbild has partnered with Kelowna-based Rykon as one of its preferred custom builders, meaning you can tap into Rykon鈥檚 30-year legacy as one of the most prestigious construction firms in the Okanagan to bring your dream home to life if you wish to start from the ground up on a bare lot.

Plenty of move-in-ready homes, from ranchers to townhouses, are also available for purchase starting from $679,000, which includes the land under them, unlike in some other resort communities.

Equally appealing as the financials underlying Predator Ridge are the amenities available to residents.

鈥淲hat we offer is world class and unlike anywhere else in the Okanagan,鈥 says Barre.

鈥淚t also helps explains why residents truly discover a better life at Predator Ridge.鈥

Known best for its two 18-hole golf courses, the community now offers more outdoor recreational activities than you can swing a club at.

They include 35 kilometres of multi-use hiking trails with picnic areas, scenic vistas, an abundance of natural beauty and many species of plants and wildlife. Boasting a mix of surfaces, including paved, crushed gravel and natural earth, the trails are pet-friendly, and in the wintertime are ideal for snowshoeing.

Those who prefer pedalling to trekking can take advantage of 12 km of bike trails developed and maintained by Predator Ridge that connect to another 40 km of trails in nearby Ellison Provincial Park. The community also has easy access to the Okanagan Rail Trail, which will run along former train tracks approximately 50 km from Vernon to Kelowna and eventually connect the entire Valley.

Want even more outdoor activities?

Predator Ridge recently opened up 27 acres of natural park space in its newest neighbourhood, The Commonage, which features a third outdoor yoga platform and lavender meadow.

Inside the natural area is the 3.5-acres Commons Park, which will serves as the social heart of the neighbourhood and a place of gathering.

Boasting sweeping views across the emerald fairways and mountain vistas, Commons Park features active facilities like four tennis courts, four pickleball courts and a playground.

Elsewhere in Predator Ridge you can find the Fitness Centre, which offers a lap pool, exercise equipment, yoga and fitness classes, bike rentals and much more.

And if proximity to wine is important to you, Predator Ridge is just 20 minutes from the Scenic Sip: a group of eight world-class wineries located between Vernon and Kelowna, including Ex Nihilo, Gray Monk and Arrowleaf Cellars.

With all those amenities, and a rock-solid real estate investment to go with them, it鈥檚 no surprise hundreds of people have already discovered a better life at Predator Ridge.
