Get a slice of this: Toronto-born pizza chain Pizza Pizza quietly opened its first new Metro 鶹ýӳlocation in New Westminster this summer, and now its revealed plans for six additional regional locations.

We already knew that Pizza Pizza was sliding in hot in Kitsilano at 1893 Cornwall Ave., but there are also plans to open elsewhere between late 2018 and early 2019 at the following locations:

  • 4461 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby
  • 2370 152nd St., Surrey
  • 715 Marine Dr., North Vancouver
  • 5717 152nd St., Surrey
  • 380 112th St., Delta

Pizza Pizza goes way, way back to Dec. 31, 1967 in Toronto, then growing in the Ontario market into the 1990s, and coming and going from Quebec in the 1980s and the early 2000s.

When it comes to west of the rockies, things have been, well, rocky, for Pizza Pizza. They entered the market in B.C. in 2009, then ended up closing all those locations. Until now.

“The Pizza Pizza brand has an incredible existing customer base across Canada, so we are thrilled to begin offering a new pizza option for British Columbians, that the rest of the country knows and loves,” said Paul Goddard, CEO at Pizza Pizza Limited, in a media release.

“We know how much British Columbians love their pizza so we have big plans for the West Coast, and are looking to build significant market presence in the Greater 鶹ýӳarea, and beyond, in the coming years,” added Goddard.

Pizza Pizza has many claims to fame in Canadian pizza lore, including being the first to deliver pizza in an insulated bag and other marketing and advertising innovations. In March 2017 it added vegan cheese to its menu.

In July 2018, the franchise also launched the first-ever quick service restaurant cauliflower-based pizza crust. It’s also known for its sing-songy jingle using its distinct “11-11” phone number —which it will be duplicating in the Lower Mainland.
