Let the good times roll!Ìý
Roller skating is poised to make its return to North Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for the first time since closed up in 1983 thanks to a new roller skating festival.
The inaugural Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Rollerskate Festival will wheel its way into the Shipyards on Saturday, April 4, with a full day of free-wheelin' fun for skaters young and less young.
Hosted by Vancouver's Rolla Skate Club, the Rollerskate Festival will feature a full slate of programming, including an all-ages open skate session, skating performances, a roller derby bout, and lessons. The day will be capped off with an adults-only Neon Nights skate party, too.
When it comes to learning how to lace up your skates and really roll, the festival will have free beginner lessons, while experienced roller skaters can sign up for workshops hosted by world-class instructors. Pre-registration is recommended for most of the event’s special programming, like workshops and the adults-only skating party. You'll find the full schedule for the festival .
What's more, the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Rollerskate Festival is part of the launch of spring roller skating at the Shipyards. The Rolla Skate Club will preside over free skate sessions this spring starting March 29. Held every Sunday, the community skate events will feature $10 skate rentals for adults, and $8 for kids.
