Attention young Â鶹´«Ă˝Ół»software developers: a major tech company is looking for summer interns.

Hootsuite, a social media management company based in Vancouver, is looking to give tech-savvy B.C. high school students an opportunity to hone their skills by offering real-world experience.

“The students don’t just do administrative work; they get to join a team, be mentored, and deliver features to our customers just like every other software developer at Hootsuite,” stated Greg Bell, Hootsuite’s VP of Software Development, in a press release.

The “unique” program aims to help students develop their technical skills, knowledge and understanding of social media, by working on the products used by Hootsuite’s 18 million worldwide users.

“This is the fifth year we have run this program and I don't know of any other company who does this. It’s a really exciting opportunity for some young developers,” stated Bell.

The paid internship is open to all B.C. students in Grade 11 and 12, including those self-taught or homeschooled, that are at least 16 years old at the time of their application. Of course, students will need permission from a parent or guardian before accepting.

“We will work with parents and guardians throughout the process and ensure they know what to expect from a job at Hootsuite,” stated Daleth Hildebrand, Hootsuite’s Software Development Operations Manager, in the release.
