Ive detoxed in the past and ended up feeling lousy: headaches, breakouts, upset stomach, as well as achy joints and itchy skin.
Thats why Im in favour of making detoxing a year-long process gradually replacing harmful foods and habits in my life with beneficial ones.
For me, a whole lifestyle change is more beneficial than a quick fix that doesnt last. I think if you go slowly, you have a much better chance for success.
The trouble with some special detox kits in a box is they can detox the body far too fast.Very often your body cannot cope and goes into a healing crisis. What I have learned is that even starting to take probiotics good bacteria that fights harmful bacteria in your body can create a negative reaction if you dont start slowly.
But by starting with a less-is-more approach and sticking with it, I felt great. Now I wish Id started years ago.Probiotics, which can be taken in supplement form or found in some yogurt brands and other food items, are now part of my daily staple.
So how do you create better health without the crisis? Small steps. If the packet says start with a 1 tsp of probiotics, then start with less.Build up your tolerance slowly.
Get some exercise
A daily walk is a fabulous step in the right direction. If youre not exercising the body gets sluggish and your bowels are unlikely to empty as regularly, which causes toxins to build up.We are designed to run, jump, walk and wiggle. Sitting at a desk all day is not conducive to healthy bowels or body.
Get to know your gut
One of the main areas neglected by modern medicine is your colon, or gut.A healthy gut means healthy digestion, elimination and mental clarity. An unhealthy gut can mean headaches, acne and lethargy not to mention stomach issues and pain.I should know; Ive been there. What that experience taught me was never to be without a great quality probiotic. I think probiotics are an essential part of my well-being as beneficial bacteria can assist with digesting food, alleviating skin conditions and improving sleep to name just some of the benefits.
