Another restaurant story coming to an end in Vancouver, as Cacao Progressive Latin restaurant in Kitsilano announced Monday their immediate closure.
鈥淚t鈥檚 time to pack everything up! It鈥檚 been an amazing journey and a wonderful experience. Thanks to all your support through these years. Didn鈥檛 ended how we wanted but, it鈥檚 time for us to move on. We鈥檙e closing for good,鈥� shared the restaurant on social media July 15.
Cacao was the project of 麻豆传媒映画chef Jefferson Alvarez and mother/daughter duo Marcela and Andrea Ramirez.
Opened in the summer of 2016 on West First Avenue, Cacao aimed to meld seasonal west coast ingredients with the bold flavours of Latin America.
The restaurant was outspoken about their issues with staffing and with customers no-showing for reservations 鈥� the latter leading Cacao to shift to a pre-paid reservation model for some tables.
In recent weeks, Cacao was embracing the season with weekend BBQs, however the restaurant appeared earlier this month on a popular restaurant real estate broker site as being for sale, and the writing appeared to be on the wall.
