Watching fireworks is simple, right?

You wait until dusk, look up in the sky and start oohing and aahing.

That is indeed one way to enjoy Vancouver’s Canada Day fireworks but if you want an enhanced experience, here are are some tips:

Pay for prime viewing

If you want your Facebook Live feed to wow your friends, you can buy tickets for the family-friendly Fireworks Viewing Zone at Canada Place. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $15. Children five and younger are free. Space is abundant but seating is limited. To purchase tickets, visit . Net proceeds from ticket sales go to support Strathcona Community Centre’s Food Security for Children program.

Grab the best free spot

The two fireworks barges are in Coal Harbour and Dundarave in West Vancouver.

If you want to watch for free, the best viewing places are:

  • Harbour Green Park
  • Coal Harbour
  • Stanley Park (9 o’clock gun)
  • Crab Park
  • West 鶹ýӳSeawall (Dundarave)

Note: The fireworks are not viewable from English Bay,Kitsilano or Spanish Banks.

Get your music on

Tune in to’s simulcastto hear the show’s official soundtrack — some of the best Canadian rock hits. The 20-minute firework show starts at 10:30 p.m.
