Sober-party enthusiast group, VYVE, returns this July with its massive, third annual Summer Bike Rave in downtown Vancouver.
Promising an exhilarating, funky, and colourful experience, the event takes place on Friday, July 12 through city streets and along the seawall.
Formerly known as Party4Health, the group strives to provide opportunities for people to engage with one another in a “party” atmosphere – minus the toxic social norms associated with conventional partying. Group founder, Jacques Martiquet, reports that, “We get high off human connection, not drugs and alcohol.”
What’s different about this bike rave?
Organizers note that the rave will include six of the, “loudest portable speakers on earth,” and that the group’s party scientists are releasing a dance mix for participants to download. As a result, everyone will be synchronized to the party-rocking beats.
“I have planned about ten of these, and for good reason. Bike Rave is a unique experience. The dance floor is constantly changing. Everyone’s wearing something funky and colourful. Lights are flashing. Smiles are blooming. All in the name of appreciating our beautiful city and the power of the bicycle,” describes Jacques Martiquet, VYVE founder.
According to VYVE, the route will, “feature portions of Vancouver’s beautiful seawall, a bridge, a mysterious tunnel, and a large mound to dance on top of.” However, the meeting place won’t be disclosed until 24 hours prior to the 8:30 p.m. start time.
