When Paul Gleeson got inspired after a few pub beverages to row across the Atlantic Ocean with his girlfriend at the time, Tori Holmes, they were missing two crucial ingredients any previous rowing experience, and a boat.
The rowing was easily learned, and the couple entered the 2006 trans-Atlantic race with a donated craft, but still had to beat the mental challenge of almost three months at sea.
Her dad, in a nice way, told me hed kill me if anything happened to her. I told him If anything happens to Tori, Im probably be dead as well, chuckled Gleeson.
The opening speaker for Great Ocean Traverses part of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», running Feb. 10-18 Gleeson will recount his experience and hints he might also reveal the scope of his next adventure, prior to a screening of Africa by Kayak.
