New on DVD this week:
- A franchise re-bourne? The Bourne Legacy is set within six weeks of the first Bourne installment, meaning that a whiff of Matt Damon is around each scene. The new film stars Jeremy Renner as another victim of the Treadstone project gone awry, and Rachel Weisz as the geneticist who just might be able to save him. High-action set everywhere from Manila to Calgary keeps things buzzing along when the storyline sags in places. The Blu-ray combo pack includes extras on the locations and on how Renner prepared for the highly physical role, interviews with director Tony Gilroy, Renner, Weisz, and crew, stunt and wolf-chase extras, deleted scenes and more.
- Pick your favourite moment from the vulgar, ridiculous film that is Ted, the story about a man-child (Mark Wahlberg), his come-to-life teddy bear (director and star Seth MacFarlane) and the girl who finally lays down the law (Mila Kunis). Most will say the Bourne-style fight scene between man and plushie; many will pick the Flash Gordon dream sequence. Mine is the nonsensical walk-on cameo by Ryan Reynolds. Just dont let your kids anywhere near it. Special features include gag reel, a breakdown of the fight scene, making-of extra and intermittently funny commentary by MacFarlane, Wahlberg and co-writer Alex Sulkin.
