Oh, the things you’ll see in the parking lot of the Waldorf Hotel on Saturday.
There will be tacos, a mariachi band, some dude called “Super Crazy” and beer aplenty.
There will also be scores of adults willingly catapulting themselves against one another, all the while wearing masks and taking on the roles of hero and heel.
Lucha Libre wrestling returns to East 鶹ýӳfor the balance of Saturday afternoon and evening as part of El Hijo De Lucha Libre Spectacular.
This weekend’s card follows the wildly popular Lucha Libre debut last year (it sold out) and features characters whose monikers kind of sound like alcoholic drinks: Danika Della Rouge, Luchsaurus, Thunder Rosa and, the star of the show, “Super Crazy,” from Mexico.
Vancouverites on the card include Ashley Sixx, Kenny Lush, Cat Power and Calamity Kate — a.k.a Kate Kroll — .
Video of Calamity Kate laying a beating on Courier reporter John Kurucz can be seen below.
Saturday’s show kicks off at 2 p.m. and there will be a beer garden, food trucks, tacos, live music from Cawama and Mariachi Tabasko and performances by LFS Dance.
Preliminary matches run 4 to 6, the main event goes down at 8 and DJ Kemo rounds out the evening at 10 p.m.
Tickets range in price between $22 and $55 and are available at El Kartel, Barber & Co, Parallel 49 Brewing and the Waldorf. Online tickets are available .
