It seems that you can do just about anything on the Internet these days; order your groceries, sell your couch, and even get a prom date.
Celine Tsai, a grade 12 student at Steveston-London secondary, has taken advantage of the powerful web and asked out her dream prom date- actor and musician, Donald Glover.
The trend of celebrity promposals (prom proposals) is nothing new; stars like Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Kylie Jenner have all made their fans鈥� dreams come true by accompanying them to their school celebrations.
鈥淭his was originally something I joked about at the beginning of the year,鈥� said Celine. 鈥淭he question of who I鈥檓 going to the prom with was still up in the air.
鈥淚 wanted to do something memorable for my last year of high school; something out of the ordinary and to break the gender norm of the guy asking the girl.鈥�
Using Facebook, Celine created a thread titled: 鈥淩easons why you, Donald Glover, should go to prom with me.鈥�
The post contained pictures and videos of her doing various activities and her arguments for why she would make a good prom date.
鈥淚 saw someone on the Internet who did a slideshow for their Tinder profile, so I thought that idea was interesting and if I were to go viral, it wouldn鈥檛 be that embarrassing,鈥� Celine added.
鈥淩eason number two: I play balls (sports) and not feelings,鈥� captioned one of her photos.
In case you were wondering, Celine is a dedicated tennis player; last year, she attended the BCSS AA Tennis Provincial Tournament along with her high school teammates.
The promposal is complete with (fictitious) testimonials from notable sources, such as the New York Times and Zac Efron.
The Facebook post was uploaded a couple days ago and has already accumulated hundreds of likes and multiple shares.
Unfortunately, Glover has not yet responded to her proposition, as he is not very active on social media.
鈥淚 have been a big fan of Donald鈥檚 for such a long time; he鈥檚 very talented and you don鈥檛 see a lot of celebrities who excel at all three disciplines (acting, singing, dancing),鈥� said Celine.
Apart from preparing for her graduation, Celine will be attending Queens university in the fall to study science and her goal is to get into medical school.
