This Christmas season, you will once more get the chance to see Vancouvers only classical, traditional version of a holiday gem, as presents The Nutcracker, December 19 to 23 at The Centre in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for Performing Arts.
Embark on a magnificent journey through the Land of Snow, Sweets, and the Sugar Plum Fairy with Goh Ballets critically acclaimed presentation of The Nutcracker, featuring principal dancers from The New York City Ballet with live music performed by members of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Opera Orchestra.
Choreographed by Dance Magazine Award recipient and Emmy Award winning Canadian Anna-Marie Holmes, this enchanting holiday production promises to capture the imagination of its audiences, ensuring they experience an unforgettable performance the entire family will adore. New York City Ballet stars Tiler Peck and Gonzalo Garcia will lead a large cast of local talents from throughout the Lower Mainland in a production proud to be Vancouvers very own. Musicians from the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Opera Orchestra will perform the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Executive producer for The Nutcracker is Chan Hon Goh, former Prima Ballerina with The National Ballet of Canada.

Hoffman fairy tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara, who receives a Nutcracker doll from her uncle, Dr. Drosselmeyer. The young girl later dreams that her Nutcracker doll comes to life and leads an army of toy soldiers into battle against the evil Mouse King. After the Mouse King is defeated, Clara and her Nutcracker Prince journey through the beautiful Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets, witnessing a world of breathtaking magic along the way. When Clara awakens, she wonders if her magical journey was all but a dream.
