43rd annual Powell Street Festival

Immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of Vancouver’s Japanese-Canadian population who were some of the earliest residents of the neighbourhood. Enjoy live performances, workshops, vendors, art and, of course, plenty of food.

When: Aug. 3 to 4, 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Powell Street area (near Jackson)

Pride is a colourful, jubilant, exciting and important gathering, and this year the fest is focused on marking 50 years of staying strong and fighting. It all culminates in the Pride Parade, which bills itself as “a celebration, a protest, a party, a place to take up space, an opportunity to don your finest and shiniest and a chance to recognize how far we have come and to reflect on where we need to go from here.” And you are all invited!

Everybody dance now! This annual event celebrates and shares the city’s diverse street dance culture, providing an opportunity for the community to engage with the public. Enjoy live music, workshops and showcases.

Mellow, folk-infused indie rockers Mumford & Sons arrive in 鶹ýӳfor an evening of rousing music at BC Place as part of their “Delta” tour. Portugal. The Man opens.

Summer Movie Nights: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Order up an extra large pepperoni pizza and get ready for a night of movie fun straight out of the sewer. The 2014 version of TMNT will be screening with some special bonuses, including a live DJ who will be remixing tracks to martial arts action on screen.
